Bonnie Miller, Director of Human Resources

She has a background in Finance. She spent many years in Law Enforcement. What she was missing in her career she found at Heritage of Edina. "I lost my grandparents early in my teens. These people are all grandparents to me," beams Bonnie Miller, a nine-year veteran at Heritage.

Bonnie loves the residents and gets such a kick out talking with them. "They add so much joy to my life. Sometimes you can't believe the things they do or say. Each day brings me another memory to smile about," Bonnie laughs.

She tells the story of one gentleman who had polio as a child. His father took him to the Mayo Clinic for an evaluation with hope of finding a treatment. They offered him a form of surgery for his son, but with no guarantees and a lifetime of risk. His father immediately made plans for his son's education with the intent that he would get an office job and stay out of the physical labor workface, which could permanently eliminate his son's ability to walk.

This gentleman got his education but wasn't content with his occupation. Even though the risk was high and the potential outcome life-changing, he entered the construction field and subsequently built Southdale Mall.

"What amazes me is that people of this generation have overcome enormous obstacles and continue to try and live life to the fullest, even in their aging years. It's nice to be around them."

In addition, I love working with the staff here at Heritage. The group here works together very well. Each person has many talents and skills to offer to the team. After so many years together we have a comfortable routine that works. The Directors really pull everyone together. It's a flexible, diverse environment that attracts hardworking, nurturing people. That's our basic core.

Bonnie loves to do crafts of all kinds; sewing, cro-hooking, scrap booking and creating cards are some of her favorites. She also loves taking long walks around the parks and spending time with her family and friends.
